Clooneys compensate neighbours for construction noise

It is welcome, but rare, to see a story of wealthy celebrities compensating their neighbours (very generously) for noise and disruption caused by building work. Press reports this week that reveal George and Amal Clooney compensated near neighbours while noisy disruptive work to their home was undertaken.  Their apology included a holiday in Corfu, six week stay in a hotel, rental cottage and vacuum cleaner (presumably a low noise one, to deal with dust?).

This news is in stark contrast to the tales of woe we’ve become used to reading of neighbour wars over extensive refurbishment in high end or rowdy parties by held the super rich disrupting neighbourhoods. While this level of construciton and compensation is beyond the means of most, it shows that noisy work doesn’t have to be the cause of woe.
