Noise Action Week 2012 events:
Edinburgh City Council - dealing with dog barking
City of Edinburgh Council’s Noise Team produced a Dog Barking Advisory leaflet for Noise Action Week 2012. Public promotion was undertaken via local press and media, Council Libraries and Local Offices, via the Council website and the Council intranet. A member of the noise team dressing in a people friendly dog costume will be handing out the leaflets at prominent City Centre locations. They also got their message across through BBC Scotland.
Fife Council - sounding out schools, leafleting landlords
Following on from great success in past years, Fife Council NAW was extended to include representatives from Police, local services and community safety. Activities included:
- Circulating a noise leaflet by email and hard copy where needed to all landlords throughout Fife.
- Working with the Fife Community Safety Partnership on ‘local noise issues’
- Undertaking Primary School ‘Noise and Health’ workshops organised with press coverage
- Providing information to raise awareness throughout Fife Council buildings including electronic screens posters and leaflet drops
- Raising High school awareness with police to target youth community noise and anti social behaviour
Also:
- Noise awareness info will be available to the 3 colleges and one university in Fife during fresher’s weeks again in 2012. Including hearing damage from use of personal music players.
Perth and Kinross C
Spent the week advising residents on solutions to noise problems, distributing beer mats to pubs advsing on keeping the noise down, and talking to students.
