Edinburgh City Council - dealing with dog barking
City of Edinburgh Council’s Noise Team has produced a new Dog Barking Advisory leaflet for Noise Action Week 2012 In two parts, the leafetlet provides advice to members of the public disturbed by barking dogs, and advice to members of the public who own dogs which bark and may be disturbing their neighbours. Public promotion is planned via local press and media, Council Libraries and Local Offices, via the Council website and the Council intranet. A member of the noise team dressing in a people friendly dog costume will be handing out the leaflets at prominent City Centre locations.
Fife Council - sounding out schools, leafleting landlords
Following on from great success in past years, Fife Council NAW group has now been extended to include representatives from Police, local services and community safety.
The group will be:
- Circulating a noise leaflet by email and hard copy where needed to all landlords throughout Fife.
- Sending leaflets and new info cards being sent out to all local service offices throughout Fife
- Sending press releases to all 7 publications covering Fife on general neighbourhood noise
- Promoting the Fife House alarm registration scheme to build on success of 2011 campaign
- Working with the Fife Community Safety Partnership on ‘local noise issues’
- Undertaking Primary School ‘Noise and Health’ workshops organised with press coverage
- Providing information to raise awareness throughout Fife Council buildings including electronic screens posters and leaflet drops
- Raising High school awareness with police to target youth community noise and anti social behaviour
Also:
- Noise awareness info will be available to the 3 colleges and one university in Fife during fresher’s weeks again in 2012. Including hearing damage from use of personal music players.
