Bracknell Forest C - engaging people with partners
Bracknell Forest Council will be engaging the borough through a variety of activities:
- an online survey; working with various housing groups; an opportunity for the public to meet with an officer from the environmental protection team: information leaflets/stands and a schools competition - open to all young people in the borough, aged between 5-16 years, to participate in designing noisy and quiet homes.

Elmbridge BC - lulling the licensing trade
Elmbridge BC in Surrey have been working with the licensing trade and Monday 21 May launch consultation on an online noise code for licensed premises. The code will be voluntary seek to establish a standard of excellence in noise management.It has three components, best practice guide, complaints management and partnership working, and will form part of Elmbridge’s award winning website.
The code to will be presented to the licensing trade at a borough wide pub watch meeting on Tuesday 22 May.
Colchester BC - DIY Advice
Colchester BC will be at a local B and Q store advising on DIY noise and hearing protection
Guiness South - Hear to Here across the south
The housing provider are taking their consultation bus on a week long tour of estates across the south - taking in Milton Keynes, Colchester, Brighton and London Boroughs - handing out sound advice to residents.
Tendring DC - sound space for schools
Tendring DC have taken ‘noise in and around schools’ as their theme for NAW 2012, and have done talks and demos in junior schools raising awareness of noise issues, in particular highlighting the risks of hearing damage through high levels of noise from iPods etc. Teaching and learning are acoustically demanding activities and, to that end, Tendring DC has been involved with a local school, designing a scheme to reduce reverberation time in a multi-use hall, which is currently uncomfortable for pupils and staff alike due to a high reverberation time.
Norfolk Councils - highlighting nuisance and hearing harm
The Norfolk Environmental Protection Group (Consisting of the seven Norfolk local authorities) are teaming up with the charity Action on Hearing Loss for an Event on Monday 21st May 2012 at the Forum, Norwich to promote Noise Action Week. This event will focus on:-
· Neighbour Noise (typical issues, how it can affect people, and how to solve them)
· Dangers of Excessive Noise on Hearing
Environmental Health Officers from the Norfolk Local Authorities and campaigners from the charity will be on hand to provide advice to the public and answer any noise related queries they may have.

Slough BC - pubs, builders, parties..
Ths Slough noise team are working to reduce noise this summer - spending the week talking to builders, licencees and residents to advise on keeping noisy work and celebrations from causing disruptive noise -
Thurrock Council - night time service
The noise team in Thurrock, Essex, will be visiting supermarkets in the Borough to raise awareness of noise nuisance and promote their out of hours service.
Maidstone BC - Focus on Flats
Are spending the week at a main shopping centre and the local market. With a focus on neghbour noise, they are setting up a mock up flat, one side playing loud music to draw the attention of passers by, and a recording of bass music that is heard next door in the flat - to demonstrate what people hear in their flats when neighbours are being noisy.
Advice on a step by step approach for dealing with neighbour noise will be n hand, along with a noise related quiz with an mp3 player prize.
